Craigslist Hutch Makeover

After falling in love with several hutches way out of my price range, I knew I'd have to makeover something very cheap! Enter this $60 Craiglist find and some Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! This paint is amazing! Absolutely no sanding required, though we did a light sanding anyways to be safe.
The colors I chose were Annie Sloan Pure White for the outside of the hutch and Annie Sloan Duck Egg Blue for the inside! After sanding and painting the whole thing, I replaced the glass doors with chicken wire painted white and finished off with Annie Sloan Clear Wax!
This stuff is smooth as Crisco! Very easy to use!

There was one knob casualty during re-assembly so I'll have to get some new hardware soon!

I'm linking up with Feature Friday Link Party!!

Bluebonnets in Texas

It's Bluebonnet season in Texas!! If you're a native Texan, you know what that means! Cars lined up and down the shoulder of the highway or roads with parents out taking their kids pictures in the bluebonnet patches! It's my absolute favorite thing about Spring in Texas. They're just beautiful flowers and when you see fields of them it's just breathtaking!

What's your favorite thing about Spring? Please feel free to share your bluebonnet pics!!

Hannah's Ikea Desk

We recently purchased Hannah a desk from Ikea. As you will soon learn, I have a love affair with Ikea among other things. We're still in the middle of redoing her room to a more big girl space. Still need to cover the corkboard in fabric and hang above desk, add a picture to the frame and get some artwork up on the walls. Thinking of doing a collage on the wall to the right of her desk. Any suggestions/ideas?? Will keep you updated on our work in progress...

Destin, Florida

One of our favorite places to vacation is in Destin, Florida. It's got gorgeous sugar white sand beaches and turquoise waters! It's a little slice of heaven on earth!!

Where to Stay

When we stay in Destin, we stay in a condo at Resorts of Pelican Beach. Their rates are very affordable and it's a kid friendly resort. We get the 1 bedroom unit and the kids stay in the built in bunks in the hallway. It has a full kitchen so we really save on dining out. As soon as we get to town, we unload our stuff and then head to the grocery store to load up for the week. Not to say we don't ever eat out, but as far as breakfast and lunches we usually eat in the condo. We always get a unit with beachfront view, because it's just SPECTACULAR...

What to Do

Destin is full of things to do for everyone! Here are some of our favorite things to do when there.

Where to Eat

When we do spend money on dining out, it's usually at one of these restaurants. This is just a short list; there are many more great restaurants there. Be sure to visit at least one with beachfront dining while you're there!!!

Have you been to Destin? What's your favorite summer destination?
